Martin West

After more than 30 years in the commercial vehicle industry, of which 29 were with the Scania Group and 3 were with Alexander Dennis, I have “walked the path” in the fields of sales, commercial, aftermarket, order to delivery, operations and strategic and process improvement.

Having enjoyed my journey of advanced leadership training and business self-study over that time, my knowledge has grown in business strategy, team culture, change management and process improvement, and after holding several leadership and director roles in fast moving, dynamic businesses, I am now excited to offer that expertise and passion for improvement to other business leaders.

  • I have launched Halcyon Business Consulting to support leaders where they need that expert advice in areas such as – strategic direction, transformational project delivery and customer journey improvements to deliver more value for their business, their people and their customers.

Halcyon – Significance of a name

I chose my company name due to two definitions of Halcyon that resonate with me and the services I can offer your business –

  • Halcyon Days – “a very successful period in the past”. We can deliver creative growth projects and strategy to build a future state for your business that will be your Halcyon days of the future as we create clear value for your customers versus the competition.
  • Halcyon Bird – in Greek mythology “the Halcyon bird had the power to calm the rough ocean waves every December so she could nest – like those calm waters, halcyon has come to mean a sense of peace or tranquility”. We can deliver process improvement and change management to provide efficiency in your business to achieve cost benefit, increased profitability and a foundation for growth.
